Accessing Emotions

3 - week class taught by Cindy Hogan!

Learn to access and confidently use the emotions needed to deliver a REAL performance as an actor.

About the Class

Emotions! We all have them and so do the characters we breathe life into. Presenting real characters with real emotions as an actor can be challenging, strenuous, and scary. Especially because the emotions an actor needs to access MUST be truthful. You cannot fool the camera!

This class is a workout for the Actor wanting to master the techniques, which can provide ready access to truthful emotion. This access and control is vital for the fast pace of working for the camera, be it for television or film.

Through exercises and prepared scene work, participants will be led to an understanding of how one accesses and connects to real emotion, and a logical, real world way to ‘bring it’ to the work.

The 3 D’s

Week 1:   Discover your ability: How to use this instrument we call our body, mind and imagination.

Week 2: Develop your ability to access your emotions on cue, truthfully.

Week 3: Demonstrate your technique through scene work.

For the past twenty-five years, Cindy Hogan has studied and worked as an actor, director, and producer. The last fifteen of those years, she has drawn upon her own experiences to coach and teach both the business and craft of the industry.

Founder of The A.C.T.I.N.G. Coach (Action Created To Initiate New Growth), Cindy helps actors to leave judgment of themselves in the work far behind and to live entirely in the moment. Her approach may be completely different for each individual she teaches. Cindy deals with the actor's work through the eyes of a director and believes that acting in all mediums comes from the same place.
